Share podcast episodes with friends.
When someone shares a podcast episode with you -- through text, email, or a link -- it's often very awkward. If you're using a different podcast app, the link doesn't help you much. You end up on a webpage, but you listen to podcasts in your player app, not a web browser. And when first see the link, you're probably busy reading messages, not in the mood to find and listen to something new.
Podcast sharing breaks at the most basic level: recommendations don't reach people where they listen.
When you join eh•koo•tay, you get a personal RSS feed. You add this feed to your podcast player once—that's it. After that, any episode a friend recommends shows up directly in your queue, just like any other podcast.
No clicking through links. No searching for episode titles. No switching between apps. Your friends' recommendations land exactly where you listen, with their personal notes about why you should tune in.
Play by yourself. Friends send you podcast links? Add them to your personal feed instead of hunting through your app to find the episode. You save time, and you don't need to ask friends to do anything different.
Play with friends. Share episodes with people in your life. If they're already eh•koo•tay users, the recommendation goes straight into their player and they'll see it next time they use their player. If they're not eh•koo•tay users yet, you can send them a link which shows them the episode and your reason for sharing it. They can join eh•koo•tay and add it to their feed, or they can take the title and look it up in their player, like they would probably have to do anyway.
Getting a podcast recommendation usually means clicking a link, going to a website, finding the podcast and episode titles, opening your app, searching for that podcast, and then actually finding the right episode. That's annoying friction that can often keep you from listening.
eh•koo•tay removes that friction. Your friends' recommendations show up in the one place you already go to listen to podcasts. That's it.
